CHRISTIANO RONALDO AND THE RACE FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE'S GOLDEN BOOT?

CHRISTIANO RONALDO AND THE RACE FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE'S GOLDEN BOOT. WHICH OF THESE PLAYERS WOULD EMERGE TOP SCORERS FOR THE 2021/22 SEASON; CRISTIANO RONALDO, MOHAMMED SALAH, ROMELU LUKAKU, HARRY KANE, BRUNO FERNANDES ?

The return of the man who has always made the premier league interesting to watch, means that there would be a downpour of goals. Without much explanation, we all know who we are talking about.

Cristiano Ronaldo, is the man. He is the linchpin of the reds. His second spell in the premier league means more goals for Manchester United. He netted a brace in his first match, and another goal in their champions League opening match of the season.

However, there are other talented players that joined premier league clubs, and one of  the biggest names that moved to the premier league, apart from Ronaldo, is Lukaku. There is no gainsaying the fact that Lukaka would give anybody a run for their money with regards to the chase for the golden boot award

Last season, when both of them were in the Italian league,It was a narrow escape for Ronaldo, beating Lukaku by just by 5 goals, netting a total of 29 goals as against Lukaku's 24 goals to clinch the award.

The likelihood for a similar duel playing out this season in the premier league is almost inevitable as both players have started flexing their muscles already, with each having scored three goals so far in all competitions, making them top of the league's scorers chart.

Besides, there are other players that are in the race. The likes of Harry Kane who emerged the golden boot winner last season, Mohamed Salah, and Bruno Fernandez could spring a surprise judging from the fact that they are all prolific scorers.

Ronaldo at 36, is still outshining players in their early and late 20's. This shows how spectacular he is as a player.

A couple of years back, it would have been pointless asking who could possibly win the golden boot award, because there were no players in his league, except that Argentine talisman, Lionel Messi. Both have been ruling the world of football for over a decade and are still hungry for more awards and honours.

We are yet to see more astounding records and performance from Ronaldo, but it seems ageing is a key factor that would define the limits that we are yet to see, and this would be the leverage for other players to reach the pinnacle of their football ambitions that have been overshadowed by just two men

In light of this, the golden boot award could go the direction of Lukaku, Salah and other promising talents only if Ronaldo decides to yield to the power of ageing. But this is unlikely because he is a freak of nature. His medical results a couple of years ago at Juventus justify this. Doctors then uncovered that even though he was 34yrs old, he had the body of a 20yr-old player

Much has not really changed since then, he is still in great shape. The only option possible for anyone seeking to stand a chance of winning the award is to beg him to calm down.
