The remaining province in Afghanistan that was bent on defending their land against the rule of the Taliban seams to have fallen.

The province had been in the eagle eye of the Northern Resistance Front (NRF); a group led by Ahmad Massoud, the son of Ahmad sha Massoud, a former warlord and leader of the the mujahedeen that put up resistance against foreign invasion of Panshir by the Soviets and others.

Ahmad Massoud in an interview, said:"Peace does not mean to surrender and to allow injustice and inequality to continue in Afghanistan". He He swore to continue the struggle against the Taliban in the valleys of Panshir to keep his late father's dream alive.

However, the Taliban has claimed victory over Ahmad Massoud and his men. Their spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said on Monday,"With this victory, our country is completely taken out of the quagmire of war," they have also claimed that they would grant amnesty to those who took up arms.

Also, the Northern Alliance spokesman, Fahim Dashty, a well-known Afghan journalist, who had debunked the clams earlier has been reported dead in recent fightings.

Further proof from the Taliban showed their flag hoisted in the governor's office of Panshir province. If these claims are true, that would mean that all 34 provinces in Afghanistan would be under the total control of the Taliban.
